Understanding your own personal resilience patterns is essential for change. Dr Lorraine Maher-Edwards draws upon her years of personal and professional experience to help you to explore areas where you feel stuck, dissatisfied and in need of growth and change. If you wish, use the provided questionnaires to understand your own current level of resilience and psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility is an overarching psychological process or set of skills that over a thousand scientific studies have now shown to predict and relate closely to a vast myriad of life outcomes and psychological resilience factors. These include levels of stress, who will develop anxiety and depression and how well someone will adjust to physical illness and trauma (See Steven Hayes, A liberated Mind, 2019, Vermillion for a comprehensive overview). Psychological flexibility levels have even been shown to impact how well we cope and adapt to the current COVID pandemic (Packenham et al., 2020). Dr Maher-Edwards will work with you to understand your own resilience needs, and areas for development, whether that be self-guided or professionally sought. The session focus allows for flexibility based on what you want and need out of the consultation. This may include live, experiential guided exercises to facilitate exploration. Going forward, Dr Maher-Edwards can work with you to set practical, bitesize goals to continue your change process and create a sustainable resilient you.
